Nice work, I'm genuinely impressed. It's just too bad this is only a loop & it never extends beyond being just that.

GentlemanTrooper responds:

Thanks. It's kinda what I was going for with it though.

Here's to you possibly getting the front page; good luck!

I've made a playlist so anybody who wants to see the other episodes can see them here: http://www.newgrounds.com/playlists/view/b1e33c84ea5821c7e4e5a3d9060511da

Brilliant parody on how shitty Resident Evil really was with its craptacular camera angles & constantly changing controls. If you're reading this, the file size for SWF files is now up to 100 megs if you want to re-add the ambient music & if you can also import it with a higher definition if you still have the master copy. In fact, you can literally upload it as a video if you want.

Thanks, someday I plan on revisiting movie making. Your reviews mean a lot to me.

I'm not very impressed. The framerate is painfully slow, although I'm willing to forgive that given that this is a sprite movie from the 2000s. What I will criticize however is the pacing of the overall movie. The beginning is very painfully slow, especially when the centaur threw the magic missile at Link. Not only does it look like it's facing backwards given that the flames are "raising" at the same direction of the ball's trajectory but it goes on and on for an unacceptably long amount of time. Cutting down on that part would've done wonders not just for the pacing but also for the humor of Link just casually walking out of the way. You could've even kept it at the same length but add in more cuts back & forth to maintain the viewer's attention span.

Then the pacing ramps up to give zero suspense when Link is woken up to find an enemy trying to steal his sword, which he very unceremoniously gets back in under a second just before announcing how untrustworthy the forest is at night & running to the town.

It isn't so much the content you're presenting so much as it is the way you're presenting it. Most of everything happens on a flat plane with few changes, if any, to show emphasis or importance. Very underwhelming.

Fro responds:

These were really my first "animations". I agree with all of your statements.

Honestly, it is unfunny. The only joke I really smirked at was the "I can't believe I smoked all that weed" joke. The lip syncing was badly off, especially the blond "woman". I understand that this was a crammed out video from a sick person & I can appreciate what one can accomplish under said circumstances. I would like to point to Knox's The Matrix as a reference for shitty but still funny dub parodies as an example: http://www.newgrounds.com/playlists/view/dd0d30b9a1c8a1444d9505cea95f15de

Very impressive. I wish this level of quality was more common place in the Flash portal. It's a combination of blatantly minimalistic yet endearing aspects; in reality it's just a texturized background with a bunch of really basic outline transformation animations that break apart & shrink to nothing before being quickly replaced by others with a straight, horizontal line set across the middle as a horizon. However, these things combined together just cross the threshold from amateurish to impressive. It demonstrates that the author isn't simply a novice to animation but rather that he's clever & experienced enough to combine a series of shortcuts together to form a cohesive whole without spending exorbitant amounts of time perfecting the project. The constantly forward moving momentum helps distract from the pieces & forces you to focus on the whole; when one thing disappears, another appears elsewhere. Something that could have easily come across as cheap & devoid of effort is masterfully woven to a discount fabric, now 30% off.

My only complaint is that some things that are clearly meant to stay gripped to the ground kept flooding up above the horizon, such as the blood produced by the tree roots in the beginning.

It was nice. I felt as though it could've done well with more. For example, the shooter has no feet and that's something to be expected from even the most rudimentary test files that get uploaded these days. It also would've helped if you animated blood splatter when Kennedy got shot, having it burst out of him and having it cover the seats and what not. It comes across as very amateurish in overall design, especially when the limo is so wide that the characters can sit at opposite ends of each other with enough room in the middle for a crowd of people. I would suggest fixing some of these problem and making enhancements in the areas I mentioned & file swapping it but this was uploaded in 2009 so I doubt any retroactive cleanup will ever happen. Even so it didn't feel like a waste of my time at least.

You were right to assume that speed drawing videos were considered unacceptable on Newgrounds.

SourCherryJack responds:

Well Shadman seems to do just fine with them, so I figured why not throw mine up and see what happens.

Not so much a parody as much as an unfinished tech demo.

The rabbit eating the guy at the end made it all the better.
